Promotion Committee


Jean Hansen, an Ossipee Main Street Board member and owner of Jean Hansen Publications, will head up the Promotions Committee following the April Annual meeting. A meeting day and time will be set at that time and announced on the website. Those interested in promoting downtown Center Ossipee are encouraged to call the Main Street Office 539-7200 or e-mail to director@ossipeemainstreet.org.

Promotions Committee, Minutes of Meeting, May 29, 2007, 6:00 pm

Present: Jim Sullivan, Georgie Duquet, Sam Martin, Sarah Millette, Lucy Wiseman, Anne Ward, Ken D'Amico. Excused: Eric Tinker, David Shea.

2007 Chamber of Commerce Guide was distributed.

Anne reported there willbe only 2 floats because the antique snowmobile is not available this year. She is comfortable with that because both floats will be "recycled."

Float names are The Main Street Clang Bang Toot Honk and Whistle Recyclers and Ossipee, Recycled and Remembered.

Tasks for building float parts were assigned and a work party was schedule for June 5, 2007 at 6:00 pm.

Photography Contest: Sam will need help taking in contest entries on Friday June 29, 2007. Jim and Georgie agreed to help with affix judge tags. Lucy made a donation towards award ribbons.

Promotions Committee, Minutes of Meeting, May 15, 2007

Present: Sam Martin, Anne Ward, Lucy Wiseman, Georgie Duquet and Sarah Millette. Excused: David Shea, Ken D'Amico, Jim Sullivan, Eric Tinker.

OHW Float theme:

Theme is recyling. We need to make sure the float has moving parts and use recycled materials. If you have ideas please contact A. Ward 539-2696. L. Wiseman to try to recruit celebrity environmentalist. S. Millette to try to recruit solar cars. S. Martin agreed to search the web for recyclig theme ideas.

Photography Contest:

Committee reviewed final rules; and entry form; tags for judging; application distributiono list; and judges. P. Jones of the Art Exhibit volunteered the use of lattice from the art exhibit for hanging the photographs. The committee graciously accepted her offer. A special trophy will be ordered fro the grand prize in the Best of Ossipee category.

The committee will meet weekly until after the OHW parade.


Promotions Committee, Minutes of Meeting, May 22, 2007

Present: Sam Martin, Anne Ward, Lucy Wiseman, David Shea,Ken D'Amico, and Sarah Millette. Excused: Georgie Duquet, Jim Sullivan, Eric Tinker.

Photography Contest:

Award ribbons: L. Wiseman and S. Martin volunteered to donate awards ribbons.

Contest Applications; Applications will distributed to various locations throughout town. Each application packet will hold 10 applications. S. Millette to design cover sheet/poster for contest and attach to applicatiton packet. C. DeAngelis to distribute packets. Applications should also be forwarded to the photography teacher at Kingswood Regional High School and principal at Ossipee Central School.

Press release: Town website will feature where to get contest applications; Carroll County Independent, Conway Daily Sun and Roger Amsden for MUL statewide.

Float:

The float theme " Recycle Today .....Save Tomorrow " was discussed. Ideas were brainstormed for both the new float and how to incorporate this year's theme into previous year's floats which will beparat of OMSP's entry. It was noted the grain elevator is made entirely of recycled parts and the antique snowmobile has yet to be recycled or replaced with a new sled.

Some members of this committee will meet to review possible recycled components for the float on Wednesday, 5/23 at 7 pm.

Committee will meet weekly until after 4th of July parade.

Ossipee Main Street Program

Promotions Committee

December 11, 2006

Present: Anne Ward; Georgie Duquet. Absent: Peter Waugh; Eric Tinker; Lucy Wiseman; Ken D’Amico.

The committee reviewed workplans for 2007. Workplans reviewed were:

• Holiday Decorations: It was suggested the committee consider making banners to hang from telephone poles.

• Float: Old Home Days Week

• Blizzard Week: Antique snowmobile and airplanes event will be managed by OMS. The goal will be to have this be a self-sustaining event.

• Sock Hop

• Valuland Customer Appreciation Days: OMS will work with ValuLand to sponsor the dunking tank event fist held in 2005.

• Events Calendar: The goal is to publicize events that happen throughout Ossipee and avoid schedule conflicts.

The Pants Off was discussed. For this event, ticket sales are being handled by area retailers: ValuLand, Lazy Susan’s, South Tamworth Community Store, the Brass Heart Inn. A. Ward will be a chef contestant.

G. Duquet volunteered to help with computer projects.

A. Ward reported Eric Tinker has offered space in the ValuLand grocery flyer to announce Main Street news.


Ossipee Main Street Program

Promotions Committee

Meeting November 27, 2006

Present: S. Millette, E. Tinker, P. Waugh, A. Ward, K. D’Amico.

A. Ward called the meeting to order at 5:45.

A. Ward explained the committee needs to develop workplans for 2007. Plans discussed included:

1. Holiday Decorations: it was recommended the OMS continue to work with the Ossipee Garden Club. It was noted the Club would like to work with plain bright red ribbons rather than plaid ribbon.

2. Float - Old Home Days Parade: Trophy was shared with committee. It was explained OMS really wants to win in 2007 so the trophy can remain on display in the office.

3. Sock Hop: A. Ward would like to see this become an annual fall event perhaps tied to the OCC fall festival. 2007 event should have advance tickets sales and better press coverage.

4. Event calendar: The committee plans to develop an event calendar to increase community participation in events as well as help avoid schedule conflicts.

5. ValuLand Customer Appreciation Days: The committee would like to bring back the dunking booth as a fundraiser and a fun event to support the ValuLand customer appreciation days.

6. Chamber of Commerce Winter Carnival: The Promotions Committee will help with winter carnival events within the target area. A. ward is on both the OMS and GOACC Boards and will serve as liaison between the two.

A. Ward agreed to complete the details of the work plans in conjunction with S. Millette. Meeting set for 11/2/06.

S. Millette talked about the Resource Team Report and explained the committee needs to be working on promoting all target are events and branding.

E. Tinker volunteered space in the community service section (back page) of the ValuLand flyer. Lead time for each flyer is 3 weeks. E. Tinker took the information about the Chefs’ Pants Off for the flyer.

S. Millette provided details about the Chefs’ Pants Off. It was decided S. Millette would remain the liaison for the event. No workplan will be prepared until it is clear OMS will be participating on an ongoing basis.
